These days, you can purchase and download music instantly from Apple's iTunes Store.  You can print postage right from your computer from Stamps.com.  Even banks are encouraging their customers to sign up for "e-statements."  Would it makes sense for a company to offer quilt patterns ready to be printed from your home computer?

Emily Purcell thought so.  She contacted Danemco, a professional web design company that specializes their services for the quilting industry, and started telling pattern designers about the idea.  Only three months after the website's launch, the www.TheQuiltPatternShoppe.com features over 100 quilt patterns from over a dozen talented designers.

Shoppers benefit from being able to purchase and print quilt patterns instantly.  Customers say how convenient it is to be able to start on projects immediately without needing to leave their home or office.  One customer recently wrote, "Living 'out in the sticks,' I love shopping from my desk, and don't even have to wait for UPS."  The Shoppe has also served customers overseas who don't have access to quilt stores like the US and Canada enjoy.

Being able to begin work on the pattern instantly is not the only benefit shoppers enjoy.  The Quilt Pattern Shoppe lets shoppers accumulate points on their purchases to use toward partnering online quilt stores for thread, fabric, and other items.  There is also no shipping cost involved with the purchases, making the patterns more affordable.  The Shoppe newsletter keeps customers informed of sales, and the site's blog helps visitors know what's new.

Pattern designers also benefit from the concept.  Because they only need to supply a copy of their pattern once, they don't need to worry about inventory, warehousing, printing, and shipping.  All designers simply receive a check every month for their better-than-wholesale commission on sales of their patterns.  Website visitors can get to know the pattern designers by visiting their personal page.

Emily looks forward to expanding the site's variety of patterns and meeting more quilters like herself from all over the world.  You can visit The Quilt Pattern Shoppe on the web by going to http://www.TheQuiltPatternShoppe.com.
