Two-time Breast Cancer Survivor Donates 10% To Research

There's an honorable story behind the the creator of Cookie's Creations' patters.  Valerie Burton, a two-time breast cancer survivor, donates 10% of all proceeds of her patterns to the Susan G Komen Breast Cancer Research Foundation.  "My life has been extremely affected by breast cancer. I am a two-time breast cancer survivor. My mom died of breast cancer and my sister is also a lucky survivor."  You will notice a pink ribbon on the cover of many of her patterns.

Valerie has been raised "under the quilting frame" for as long as she can remember.  Aside from creating original patterns, she teaches, works at the local quilt shop in Kayesville Utah, and spends time with her six grandsons.

Valerie was recently asked to prepare two quilt patterns for a new line of Moda fabrics.  These patterns are available from The Quilt Pattern Shoppe.

International Quilt Market

I just got back from the International Quilt Market / Spring in Portland Oregon.  It was a lot of fun.  I am surprised at how many exhibitors there were.  It took me all three days to walk the show.  I met with many pattern designers to introduce the idea of the Shoppe.  I was surprised at the positive response I got -- more than I expected!  The Quilt Pattern Shoppe will be THE quilt pattern distributor for the digital age.  One person said it best -- "You're like iTunes, but for Quilt Patterns!"

We are still looking forward to receiving more designs from designers to prepare for a June 20th grand opening.  All pattern designers that wish to have their designs sold through the Shoppe can have their per-pattern processing fee waived if we receive the patterns by the grand opening date.
