I started quilting in 1990. I made my first quilt when I
didn't know I couldn't quilt. The only sewing I had ever done prior was garment
sewing. When I made the quilt, I backstitched and reinforced every seam with a
zig-zag stitch. I went through spools and spools of thread! It was a Double
Irish Chain quilt for my boyfriend. It apparently looked okay, because he
married me! He is now one of my greatest supporters. I noticed that there were
thousands of beautiful quilt patterns around, but few for boys over the age of
four. Being a mother of boys, I make sure to keep them in mind. I now design
and publish patterns, do commissioned work, longarm work, teach, and, oh yeah,
quilt!
