North Carolina Quilt Artist
Embellished by Nature is the name given to the projects of North Carolina quilt artist Debby Masten. The quilt projects are all original designs and are inspired from a love and appreciation of nature. Wallhangings, greeting cards, a pattern line, full size-bed quilts, and purses are examples of the focues of the work. Some of the work includes real items from nature, including real leaves and flowers, pine cones, pebbles, straw, bark, sea shells, feathers, and even sand. Yes, you can adhere sand to a wallhanging. The use of such items combines the art of quilting and embellishment in a special way. Debby and her husband Steve live in Southport, North Carolina. Debby has a degree in Home Economics Education from Appalacian State University. Sewing has been a part of her life since she was very young. A highlight for this quilter was being the finalist in a national quilting contest and having her quilt tour the country for a year.
