Rose Country Quilts
Doris Scanlon & Rose Country Quilts
Hi! My name Doris Scanlon and I'm a prolific quilter. I've been quilting for over 20 years and designing for a little over one year.
I first fell in love with quilts when I received a Sun Bonnet Sue quilt from my Grandpa Frank. His sister, my Great Aunt Lu, pieced and quilted the entire quilt by hand. Unfortunately I was very young when I received it and loved it to pieces, literally. My Aunt Mabel gave me another one of Aunt Lu's quilts that she had in her collection before she passed away and it's one of my favorite treasures.
The quilting bug finally bit me in the early 1980's and bit me hard. I've over 350 quilts to my credit, all but 20 are completed. My favorite fabrics are Civil War Reproductions, but I love pretty much any type of fabric.
Rose Country Quilts was started here at my home in 2006 to perpetuate the art and love of quilting. I love quilting patterns and started designing them in early 2007. My newest series is called "The Echoes of our Nation Historical Collection" which started in June 2008. I was inspired to make the first one, 'North & South', after hours of genealogical research on my father's side of the family. My family has deep military roots back to the Revolutionary War and I thought it would be an awesome tribute.
I currently teach classes several times a week here at my home and any extra time I have is devoted to designing new patterns. I hope you enjoy what I have to offer.
