Mojo Quilt Designs
Not too long ago, I showed my daughter a quilt I was making. She said "Wow Mom! that quilt has some mojo!" thus Mojo Quilt Designs was created. My name is Sondra Sonka, I am a quilter. I laugh at myself because it seems like it's a delicious confession, but it describes me perfectly! If asked by a stranger who I am, that's what I'd say. I made my first quilt 20 years ago for my first child, my son. Back then I think I used a cardboard square as a template and I cut all the pieces for the Rail Fence pattern out by hand with scissors. I had no idea what I was doing, but that quilt was made with lots of love (and mistakes, but we won't talk about those). Times have changed and the tools, fabrics and patterns we have available now are just amazing! Through the years and an abundance of trial and error I found the path towards pattern design. Creating patterns is so rewarding! I love the sense of accomplishment and I cheer when I finish a pattern, mainly because I'm notorious for creating and maintaining the UFO population in my house. My sewing studio is affectionately known as Area 51. I'm drawn to geometrics and bright, colorful patterns. I hope that you discover the joyful exuberance in quilting and I know you will add your own "mojo" to your creations.
