Chatterbox Quilts

Hi! I’m Kim Jamieson-Hirst of Chatterbox Quilts.

Unlike most quilters, I didn’t grow up with a quilting mom or grandmother. In fact I discovered quilting about seven years ago when my children were younger. Two of my friends were quilters and suggested that I take a beginner class to see if I would enjoy this craft. Enjoy it - I was instantly obsessed! Who would’ve thought that cutting fabric apart and stitching it back together again could be so much fun? I discovered new friends and another aspect of myself. Although I never considered myself “creative”, I found my artistic soul through quilting.

While I enjoyed making projects designed by others, they also inspired me to
express myself by creating my own designs. In 2008 I decided to create Chatterbox
Quilts and have been happily creating and designing ever since.

With two children, two high-maintenance cats and a husband, quilting time is at a premium and I find that fusible web appliqué, my favourite technique, allows me to complete my projects quickly. I like to combine this type of appliqué with some simple piecing for quick and attractive projects. I know that your quilting time is precious, so I keep my patterns fun and include clear and comprehensive instructions.

And if you were wondering about the name of my company, well, my son came up with it. Since I’m originally from Chatham, Ontario, Canada and love to chat (a chatterbox from Chatham as he calls me), what else could it be but Chatterbox Quilts?
